Khayalgoi is a wonderful tradition of singing.

The atmosphere becomes pleasant when the singers spread their tunes with harmonium and chang. The second singer makes it even more amazing by replying in the same style. This wonderful traditional form of folk singing is now gradually becoming extinct and there is a need to preserve it. Only one Akhara is left in Agra.
Amazing poetry is also composed in this singing style. It is called Gatagat style (Ult-Palat) which is quite complex. It can be read from both sides. Like Ras Ras Bachao in the forest, I am a real thief.
There have been many experiments in this genre of singing, in which letters of the alphabet come before each line. It is called Kathera. By running the line of kajal, the kajra floats in the kajra, the scenes are written, drawn and drawn in the salty water. When singers sing in high voices from the stage, there is a unique feeling of Hindi literature. Such as-
Krishna in the lotus, Lochan in the lotus
Beloved in Lochan, Moon in Beloved
The glow in the moon, the speed in the glow,
Shade in Druti, Vrind in shade.
This difficult and rare folk singing genre of Hindi literature dates back to the Mughal period when Urdu language was dominant. People used to avoid Hindi while writing and reading. In such a situation, this art was invented to promote Hindi. There were two sides in it, one was Kalangi and the other was Turra side. They used to compete with each other. There were also questions and answers. Listeners used to sit the whole night to listen to them.
At one time there used to be more than half a dozen Akharas in Agra. Now only one arena is left. He is Lala Pannalal Maharaj Pt. Roop Kishore. The throne of Ustad Jalad is held by Neeraj Sharma (at Kachari Ghat) and the turban of Pandit Navraj Dubey (City Station Road) is held by Pt. Manoj Dubey.
Lavani, the folk singing style of Maharashtra, is called Khayalgoi in Brijmandal. It was sung in Maharashtra a long time ago. According to cultural activist Rajbahadur Singh Raj, its founders were Sanyasi Tukhangiri of Bhakti tradition, while Shah Ali was of Sufi tradition.
It is said that the Maharaja of Chandeli had organized a debate in which the debate on Brahmagyan was to be done in poetic style. In this, Ali Saheb was given Kalangi and Tukhangiri was given Turra. Its tradition started from there. The verses of Khayalgoi are called Tatanka verses which have thirty matras. There are eight Rangat in Khayalgoi, which include Chhoti Rangat, Nayi Rangat, Rangat Rindani, Rangat Daad, Khaadi Rangat, Langdi Rangat, Shikasta Rangat and Jikdi Rangat. Kata, Jhadi, Sher, Couplet and Ghazal are also used.
The number of people from Turra side is more in Agra. It was established in Agra by Tukhangiri around Vasant Panchami at Hathi Ghat. Since then, three days of Nishan Puja is performed here. Khayalgoi events are organized at various places. Among the gurus of that time, Itwari Lal, Gopaldas Chaurasia, Om Prakash Lala, Babu Gohar, Dinesh Chandra Sharma, Chandu Pehalwan, Madanlal, Roop Kishore and Rajendra Sharma of Kachari Ghat were Jalad Gurus.
