Dancers enthralled in Kathak dance workshop
Lucknow. The closing ceremony of the presentational summer Kathak dance workshop organized by Birju Maharaj Kathak Sansthan was successfully completed today at Valmiki Rangshala, Auditorium Sangeet Natak Academy, Gomti Nagar. On this occasion, senior Kathak dancer Dr. Purnima Pandey was present as the chief guest. Special Secretary Culture Ravindra Kumar had the dignified presence as the special guest.
The ceremony started with lighting of the lamp and Ganesh Vandana. After this the participants displayed their art through various Kathak dance performances. The program and workshop were directed by Akanksha Pandey and Meesha Ratna.
On this occasion, the chief guest in his address gave his blessings to all the artists. Wished him a bright future. Special Secretary, Culture Department, Uttar Pradesh, Ravindra Kumar, in his address said, “Kathak dance is an important part of Indian culture and such workshops help in connecting the new generation with our rich cultural heritage.” He congratulated all the participants for their excellent presentations and wished them a bright future.
The artistes started the program with the hymn “Shantakaran Bhujangashayanam Padmanabham Sureshan” based on Lord Srihari Vishnu. After this the participants displayed their art through various Kathak dance performances.
Trained participants in the workshop presented various aspects of Kathak dance like Upaj, Thaath, Uthaan, Natwari Roop, Paran and Durga Kavita. Thereafter, child artistes presented Bandish, Salami, Aamd, Thukda, Tihai, Paran, Chakkardaar Thukde and Ladi etc. in three-taal delayed rhythm. On this occasion, certificates were awarded to all the participants in the closing ceremony.
