The auditorium reverberated with the sounds of pakhavaj, singing and sitar-guitar duet at the 60th Ninad Mahotsav.
On the second day of Ninad Mahotsav, the morning session was dedicated to Shri Mukesh Garg. At the beginning of the program, the students of Sangeet Kala Kendra Agra performed Saraswati Vandana in Raga Basant Mukhari and Naad Vandana in Taal Char Taal in Raga Ahir Bhairav.
On the occasion of Pandit Raghunath Talegaonkar’s birth centenary year, Adi Bhairav and its variants are composed by Pandit ji – Raga Bhairav, Bengal Bhairav, Shivamat Bhairav, Nat Bhairav, Bairagi Bhairav, The compositions in Ahir Bhairava were beautifully presented by Dr. Uma Vijay from Jaipur along with her disciples – Anshul Nagpal, Kavita Arya, Mantra Kantiwal and Sanket Gupta. You were accompanied by Mr. Hemendra Gupta on harmonium and Dr. Lokendra Talegaonkar on tabla.
In the second phase of the program, Dr. Santosh Namdev, the chief disciple of Maharishi Pagal Das Ji, presented Pakhawaj playing. You presented Pakhavaj playing in traditional form in four taals. You delighted the audience by presenting Kamali in four taals, four Dha and five Dha. In the end Shiva Paran and Durga Paran were presented. Mrs. Usha Namdev and Pandit Ravindra Talegaonkar ji accompanied you on Samvadini.
As the final presentation of the programme, representative artists of the Seniya-Maihar Gharana, Prof (Pt) Devashish Chakraborty and Devaditya Chakraborty presented guitar and sitar jugalbandi. You presented the composition of Vilambit Teentaal and Madhyalay Teentaal after the Alaap, Jod, Jhala of the Avtarana of Raga Shuddha Sarang. The clarity of the notes and the preparation of the Taans were clearly visible in your playing.
You concluded the program by presenting a tune in Raag Zila Kaafi. Padma Bhushan Pandit Kishan Maharaj ji’s chief disciple Dr. Hariom Hari (Khairagarh) provided you with excellent tabla accompaniment and took the program to musical heights. On this occasion, Dr. Santosh Namdev was given the honorary award of Pandit Raghunath Talegaonkar Smriti “Adarsh Sangeet Prasarak” and Prof. Devashish Chakraborty was given the honorary award of Shri Purushottam Bal Krishna Srivastava Smriti “Music Art Enhancer”.
In the closing session, the Ninaad Mahotsav concluded with the melodious sound of Pt. Ajay Shankar Prasanna’s flute and Prof. Jayant Khot’s singing, which was dedicated to Guru Shri M.L. Kausar ji. In the closing ceremony, Miss Manreet Kaur from Bareilly gave an impressive performance of Raag Jog on the violin with special preparation. Shri Amarnath gave a beautiful accompaniment on the tabla.
In the next presentation, leading artist of Gwalior tradition, Professor Jayant Khot enthralled the audience by presenting bandish in Vilambit Ektaal and Madhyalay Teentaal in Raga Yaman, followed by special compositions of Gwalior gharana like Ashtapadi, Raas, Tappa. Pandit Ravindra Talegaonkar Ji provided expert accompaniment on Samvadin and Dr. Lokendra Talegaonkar Ji on tabla.
The last presentation of the programme was the flute recital by internationally renowned flute player Pt. Ajay Shankar Prasanna. He delighted the audience by presenting gats in Vilambit Rupak, Madhyalay Ektaal and Drut Teentaal in Raga Bageshri with special preparation and concluded with the popular tune of Banaras. Dr. Hariom Hari provided excellent accompaniment on tabla.
The program ended with the devotees of Sangeet Kala Kendra presenting the Aarti “Jai Jagdish Hare” and Ramdhun “Raghupati Raghav Raja Ram” composed by Vishnu Digambar Ji, thus taking the program to spiritual heights.
